ACLC launches TeknoPinoy 2012
During this year’
s Kalilangan Festival, ACLC launches the TeknoPinoy 2012. This outreach program is in partnership with DepEd, TESDA, DTI, Globe Telecom and the local government of Gensan. TeknoPinoy aims: (1) to increase awareness on the rising demand for world-class skills, (2) to transfer skills in animation, web development and multimedia broadcassting and (3) to discover potential talents that can be further developed into globally competitive transcibers, animators, web developers and broadcast journalists. This year TechnoPinoy aims to reach at least 10,000 students of ten beneficiary schools in SOCSARGEN.
CAMPUS TECH TALKS. A demo-training on graphics, animation and multimedia editing targeting at least 10,000 youth in schools and barangays. In this project, skilled ACLC students transfer their acquared skills by demonstrating them to the beneficiary students. This year four topics will be introduced to the TechnoPinoy participants: Photo Manipulation, 2D Animation: Character Sketch, 2D Animation: Animating Objects and Video Editing and Visual Effects. The demo-training will hopefully inspire the young students to hone their creative talents and skills towards global standards.
QUEST FOR YOUNG ANIMATORS. This event aims to discover at least 10 talented artists per school whose entries will compete in an inter-school level. The top 10 winners in the interschool event will be awarded 50-100% scholarships in Visual Graphics NCIII or 2D & 3D Animation NCIII The. To be a major global player in animation, SOCSARGEN must be able to produce at least 300 skilled 2D/3D animators within the next five years. This project will hopefully help fill up the supply gap.
SPEED TYPING CHALLENGE. Target for this event is to discover at least 10 speedtypers per school with a typing speed of at least 40 accurate words per minute. The top ten qualified typers will compete in an interschool level and winners will receive scholarship certificates from ACLC and cellphones from Globe Telecom. We aim top promote and encourage speed and accurate encoders and transcribers that can help us globally compete in the fast growing transcription industry.

Another activity of Teknopinoy 2012 is to create a strong broadcast journalist team per beneficiary school who can provide the city with the latest updates, sentiments and perceptions of the Gensan youth. Each team will be empowered them to continuously create 5min news features that will be aired for FREE at SKC channel 28’s tv shows ACLC ENews and Youth Speaks Out.
TECHNOBIZ SCHOLARSHIPS QUALIFYIG EXAM. Conduct qualifiation tests to the top 30% of the graduating class. Successful qualifiers will be given 50-100% scholarships in ACLC IT-Powered BSBA or BSA programs and job training opportunities at the exporting division of Skeptron Business Solutions. There are 100 scholarships are open for academic year 2012-2013.
WEB DEVELOPMENT TRAINING. Empower the student councils and school paper editors of beneficiary schools with web and social media skills to enable them to disseminate information in a fast, inexpensive and more effectively way.
THE TEKNOPINOY TEAM. The TeknoPinoy 2012 team consists of the faculty and students behind SKC28, the local TV channel of ACLC Colleg
e and Skeptron BizSolutions, an export outsourcing firm. Most of them are BSIT and Computer Graphics Animation students and graduates of the school. Their vast experiences in running the channel and in their animation works equipped them with highly advanced skills that they generously shared with the TeknoPinoy participants.
